Transformational leadership for such a time as this.

Our purpose

Founded in 2008, the Methodist e-Academy was established to equip European Methodists with the knowledge and formation essential for faithful congregational leadership — spanning Methodist history, polity, doctrine, theology, ethics, and ecclesiology. We believe that a deeper understanding of our shared tradition empowers leaders to serve with greater confidence, clarity, and conviction.

The two-year programme is open to Methodists with at least a B2 level of English or C1 level of German, along with a foundation in theological study. Together, we are committed to:

  • Broadening horizons — Deepening understanding and appreciation of the rich, diverse expressions of Methodism flourishing across Europe

  • Nurturing vocation — Walking alongside students as they discern and embrace their unique calling in God's mission

  • Inspiring faithful practice — Encouraging the thoughtful and transformative application of Methodist principles within students’ ministerial contexts

  • Creating community — Strengthening the European Methodist connexion across borders and cultures

Our program includes:

Online courses
CHF 99.00

Grounded in faith and shaped by scholarship, our two-year online programme equips students with a thorough understanding of Methodist history, theology, polity, ecclesiology, ethics, and praxis. Delivered through accredited Methodist theological seminaries, the programme upholds the highest academic standards while nurturing a vibrant, intercultural learning community — united by a shared commitment to the Methodist tradition and its call to transform the world.

Vocational mentoring
CHF 0.00

Every student is personally matched with a seasoned pastor-scholar serving in a different region of Europe — bringing a broadening perspective that transcends borders and enriches the journey of formation. This cherished mentorship relationship offers a trusted, confidential space in which students are free to explore the delicate rhythms of balancing work, study, and life, while reflecting openly on the joys, struggles, and sacred moments that mark the path of ministry — whether lay or ordained.

Yearly in-person seminar
CHF 199.00

Once each academic year, the entire student community comes together in person — alternating between the historic surroundings of Cliff College and a carefully chosen location on the European continent. These gatherings are a highlight of the programme: a time to deepen friendships, sit with European Methodist faculty, walk in the footsteps of our Methodist heritage, and be inspired by the witness of contextual ministries across the continent.

And the conversation doesn't end there. Each year, we invite the wider public to join us for an online panel discussion on a theme close to our students' hearts — chosen by the students themselves. It is an opportunity to share the richness of Methodist thought and practice with a broader audience, and to let fresh voices shape the dialogue.
